A report from England on Tuesday suggests that West Ham are keen to tie Tomas Soucek down to fresh terms.
Soucek impressing with West Ham
Tomas Soucek of course joined West Ham on a permanent basis from Slavia Prague over the summer, after an impressive six-month loan stint with the Hammers.
And he has since gone on to become one of the Hammers’ standout stars, as they push towards a European berth for next season.
Despite having played in a deep midfield role throughout much of his stint in London, the Czech has chipped in with eight goals in 27 Premier League outings this term.
Such an impressive start to life in England has even attracted interest from one of the Premier League’s heavyweights, with it claimed last month that Manchester United are now keeping tabs on the 26-year-old.
Soucek set for new West Ham deal?
Now, though, despite the midfielder having only joined the London-based club on a permanent basis in the summer, West Ham appear keen to tie Soucek down to fresh terms.
According to a report from Football Insider on Tuesday, the Irons are set to offer Soucek a new and improved contract ahead of the summer window.
The former Slavia man’s current deal runs until 2024, with it thought that he currently earns a figure in the region of £40,000-£50,000-a-week.
However, Soucek is supposedly now set to be offered a significant pay rise, and extension to his deal.
Elsewhere on the West Ham front, meanwhile, David Moyes has been heaping praise on Declan Rice, claiming that the midfielder is worth ‘far more’ than £100m:
“I don’t agree with the owners that Declan Rice is a £100m footballer. Far, far more than £100m. Far, far more.
“I look at the players who have joined some clubs from overseas and come in and nowhere near had the impact Declan Rice would have.
“I certainly wouldn’t put a price on it. You can decide which figure you want to put on it but I wouldn’t be sanctioning anything like that, that’s for sure.”
