Morocco Elected to Chair AU African Scientific Research and Innovation Council
Nairobi – Morocco was elected, Wednesday in Nairobi, to chair the African Scientific Research and Innovation Council (ASRIC) of the African Union.
Participants at the 4th ASRIC Congress, held November 22-25, elected by a majority Morocco, in the person of the Chancellor of Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology, Mostapha Bousmina, as President of the Council for a three-year term.
Also President of Fez Euromed University, Bousmina took part in the Congress by videoconference.
Organized in hybrid mode (face-to-face and virtually) by ASRIC and the AU Scientific, Technical and Research Committee, the conference, which is attended by representatives of various academies of science from African countries, is held under the theme “Strategic investment/Utilization of STI for Africa’s Economic Emergence.”
The event was highlighted by the selection of a scientific project proposed by the Moroccan delegation on the link between artificial intelligence, food security, and agriculture in Africa.
ASRIC seeks to mobilize African research excellence to advance the African development agenda, promote dialogue and provide voice of the scientific community that expresses continental excellence.
